Job Summary The department of Sociology and Psychology is seeking inspirational and dedicated instructors to guide our diverse and increasing student population. We are also seeking to complement and expand program specialization that will offer graduates multiple paths to furthering the academic careers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities - Teach various undergraduate/graduate level courses of Psychology and Social Science.
- Serve on, and contribute to, all committees to which he/she is assigned.
- Engage in scholarly research, publications, and presentations that include undergraduate and graduate students whenever feasible.
- Assist the Department Head in recruitment, retention and graduation of Sociology and Psychology majors in the department.
- Assist with curriculum reviews and analysis in the department/college/university.
- Attend convocations and commencements, and participate in other official University functions when requested.
- Insure that all programs in the department are current and contribute to the mission of the University.
- Assist with providing leadership and counsel for student organizations in the department.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Department Head/Coordinator, Dean of the College/School, or Provost
Qualifications Minimum:
- Candidate must possess a Ph.D. degree in psychology from an accredited college of university.
- A commitment to the academic achievement of a racially, ethnically and culturally diverse student populations is required.
- A scholarly academic record research, publications and presentations in the field of Psychology is essential.
- Ability to and potential for teaching courses in: applied psychology, experimental psychology, and research methods and statistics is required.
- Candidate must express a commitment to teaching and to the successful development of Behavioral/Social Science majors.
Preferred:
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience at the university level.
- Preference with be given to individuals with a specialization Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Behavioral Psychology and Social Psychology. Knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS, NVivo or MAXQDA, STATA and SAS etc. required
