General Statement of Duties
As a head dance team coach, duties may include developing dance routines, leading practices, mentoring dancers, overseeing administration of the entire program, ensuring well-being, providing feedback, coordinating with school staff, and upholding team values.
Essential Duties
- The essential duties of a head high school dance coach typically include:
- Developing and implementing dance routines for performances, competitions, and events.
- Organizing and leading regular team practices and rehearsals to improve technique and coordination.
- Selecting and arranging music for dance routines.
- Recruiting and selecting team members, and providing guidance and mentorship to dancers.
- Collaborating with school administrators and organizing team participation in school events and community outreach programs.
- Overseeing the team's budget, including managing expenses for costumes, travel, and competition fees.
- Ensuring the overall well-being and safety of the dance team members.
- Providing constructive feedback and support to help dancers improve their skills and performance.
- Coordinating with other school staff and faculty to ensure that the dance team's activities align with the school's overall mission and values.
- Upholding high standards of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork among the dance team members.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience in dance or choreography, and knowledge of dance techniques and performance.
- Additional qualifications may include certification in dance instruction, experience coaching or mentoring dancers.
- Candidates with college or professional dance training and experience are encourage to apply.
