Job Description

Here at The Free Press, we believe in convening our community in-person and creating unique, memorable experiences that are true to our brand. We are looking for a passionate events coordinator to help us produce our events - from our flagship debate series to book club salons, to fun, lively parties - and meet our audience where they are. This person will work cross-functionally across our editorial, product, and business teams to execute events.

Responsibilities:

• Planning: research and choose locations and formats for different event across the US from small gatherings to 1,000+ attendee events
• Vendor management: hiring and managing agency partners and vendors such as caterers, production, entertainment, security, and others
• Promotion: coordinating with internal and external partners to produce promotional material and signage, and working with our marketing and sales team for advertising needs
• Ticket sales: setting up and managing box office processes, and communicating those processes with internal and external partners
• Staffing: overseeing staffing needs for events, including internal team members, freelancers, and vendors, including coordinating travel details
• Budgeting: working with other partners to ensure event budgets are on track

Qualifications

• You're a do-er and a pragmatist, but hyper-focused on details
• You have experience in managing and producing both small and large scale events
• You like to travel!
• Enthusiastic and adaptable, with a proactive and creative approach to problem-solving
• Sense of humor is a plus!
• An embrace of a scrappy start-up environment with a willingness to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed
