Duties & Responsibilities PositionSummary: The Organizational Psychologist will lead research initiatives focused onpromoting wellness, resilience, and high-functioning multidisciplinary teamswithin the emergency medicine setting. They will develop and execute researchstudies, apply for external grant funding, publish findings, and collaboratewith clinical faculty and staff.This isa full-time, tenure-track faculty position.
Core Responsibilities: - Design and conduct research studies investigating factors impacting wellness, burnout, resilience, and team dynamics among emergency medicine personnel.
- Develop evidence-based interventions and training programs to enhance staff wellbeing and team effectiveness
- Pursue external funding through grant proposals to federal agencies such as NIH and private foundations
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
- Collaborate with emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals on multidisciplinary research projects
- Provide counseling to staff on career development and workplace issues
- Facilitate organizational change initiatives and conflict resolution
- Teach graduate courses in industrial/organizational psychology or related areas
- Mentor graduate students in research activities
- Serve on departmental and university committees
Qualifications Minimum Hiring Standards: - PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field from an accredited institution
- Established track record of securing external grant funding, preferably from federal agencies
- Extensive research experience using quantitative and qualitative methods
- Expertise in applying psychological principles to workplace issues like stress, burnout, resilience, team dynamics
- Demonstrated success in publishing research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
- Training and experience in survey development and providing feedback
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, interdisciplinary collaboration
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or, commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in an Academic Medical Center environment
